This classic Door County village sits on the bay. Legend says its unusual name may be from a friendly egg battle between early fur traders as they raced to shore — or from a nest of ducks eggs found by the county’s first settler. Go swimming!
Historic buildings, such as the old town hall, drug store, and feed mill are now home to great shops — home decor, clothing and jewelry boutiques, souvenirs, confectioneries ,olive oils, galleries and books. There’s also a health food store and gourmet grocery store. Supper clubs, pubs, and restaurants serve home-made barbecue, steak and seafood, Italian, French, Spanish tapas and more. There’s an artisan cheese shop, two microbreweries and just last year, a brand-new distillery.
BIRCH CREEK This Music and Performance Center is a summer music school for young musicians. Students are taught by nationally-known performers and educators — and perform alongside them in evening concerts.
EGG HARBOR MARINA This marina offers the best deep-water sailing access on the peninsula. Fish from a boat or from the 800+ foot long walkway. Great public beach!
